UPDATE: RCMP Major Crimes Investigate Homicide in High Level

High Level, Alberta – The RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested a male on Aug. 10, 2019 in High Level.

An autopsy was completed at the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office and the death of a male on Aug. 9, 2019 was deemed a homicide.

Jesse Beckles (18) of High Level has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Nathan Kim. He was remanded into custody and is set to appear in High Level Provincial Court on Aug. 26, 2019.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who had recent contact with Jesse Beckles or Nathan Kim to contact High Level RCMP at 780-926-2226.

Given that this matter is now before the courts, the RCMP will not be providing additional information in relation to the present charges. Should new details surface, they will be provided by means of an updated media release.

RCMP Major Crimes Investigate Homicide in High Level

High Level, Alta – On August 9, 2019 at approximately 2:30PM High Level RCMP received a request from EMS to assist with a male who had been shot. The male victim was located in an alley near 105 Avenue and 98 Street, near the Maple Ridge Suites.

The victim succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for August 12, 2019. Police are making efforts to confirm the identity of the deceased.
RCMP “K” Division Major Crimes Unit is engaged and is seeking to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting. Additionally, if there are any residents with surveillance footage, they are asked to contact the High Level Detachment.
