Lethbridge Police investigating assault of male outside downtown bar

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are investigating an assault outside a downtown bar and are asking anyone who was in the area or has information to come forward.

On August 17, 2019 at approximately 2:36 a.m. police responded to a report that a male had been assaulted by a group of unknown males along the 1200 block of 1 Avenue South. Investigation determined a 25-year-old male was outside Boss Hog’s with a female and got involved in a confrontation with the occupants of a white car, which briefly left the area and then returned. Several males exited and subsequently assaulted the 25-year-old man before returning to the vehicle and fleeing from the area. EMS were contacted and transported the victim to hospital where he was treated for head injuries and later released.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone who was in the area, witnessed the assault, recognizes the vehicle or has information that could assist police in identifying the subjects, to contact A/Sgt. Liam Breedon at 403-330-5162.

A photo of the suspect vehicle is included for release.

Contrary to speculation on social media, there is no evidence to suggest the subjects or the vehicle are associated to the Supervised Consumption Site.
