Yarmouth, Nova Scotia – Shortly after 12 p.m. yesterday, Yarmouth Rural RCMP responded to a structure fire on Chebouge Rd., near Kelly’s Cove. The fire was noticed by a passing motorist who saw smoke coming from the roof of a house.
The Yarmouth Fire Department and other fire departments attended the location of a single story home on fire. The residence was unoccupied at the time. RCMP members secured the scene and shut down the roadway while fire crews put out the fire. RCMP Forensic Identification Section also attended the scene to take photos and seize items. The residence suffered extensive damage from the fire, however, there were no injuries or loss of life.
In partnership with the Yarmouth Fire Department, RCMP members remain on scene and will be working closely with the Provincial Fire Marshall’s Office to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
