Alleged Threat Against Bow Valley High School – UPDATED

Cochrane, Alberta – The Cochrane RCMP were in attendance at the Bow Valley High School today to support students and their families as they returned to school.  There were zero incidents to report at this school and it was business as usual.  While this investigation is still ongoing, the RCMP would like to assure the students and their families that these allegations are taken very seriously.  The RCMP are working very closely with the Bow Valley High School Administration, the student, the students’ family, that is alleged to have made the comments, and community support services have been offered.

“Threats that come to our attention, the way that these threats came to our attention, can be very difficult to manage” said Cst. Kary Moore with the Cochrane RCMP “If you are a witness to this event or if you have any information, you are urged to contact the Cochrane RCMP.  Sharing information that you heard and you’re not sure if its true or not, can have far reaching consequences to all involved.”

These investigations remain a high priority for the Cochrane RCMP and we remind students to report any safety concerns to school administration and/or RCMP immediately.  The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
