Parkland RCMP lay charges for theft

Spruce Grove, Alberta – On Sept. 13, 2019 at 07:43 a.m., Parkland RCMP were dispatched to the Tri-Leisure Centre in Spruce Grove. A vehicle was reported stolen. The victim had left her backpack and belongings in the females change room, but did not lock the locker.

Video surveillance showed a female enter the change rooms and exit a short time later with the victim’s backpack. The same female suspect was observed on surveillance video entering the victim’s vehicle and driving away.

The female suspect depicted in the video was identified as Ashley Wilton (33) of Edmonton. Wilton was subsequently arrested on Sept. 20, 2019 and charged with:

• Other theft under $5000

• Theft of sport utility vehicle

Ashley Wilton was remanded into custody will be appearing via CCTV in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Oct. 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
