Airdrie RCMP officer injured when his police car was rammed by stolen vehicle

Airdrie, Alberta – An Airdrie RCMP officer was injured when his police car was rammed by the driver of a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 4:35 p.m. on October 17, 2019, RCMP located a parked stolen F-250 pickup in the parking lot of No Frills, located in Airdrie, Alta. When the driver saw police behind him he put the truck into drive, drove between two police cars and rear ended a third. The suspect then drove over a median at a high rate of speed and headed south on Highway 2.

Calgary Police Service HAWCS was in the area and was able to follow the stolen vehicle. Once inside city limits, Calgary Police Service members attempted to stop the truck and when the driver exited the truck, officers were able to apprehend him and take him safely into custody.

39 yr old Alin Alexander DAOUD of Airdrie, Alta has been charged with 11 offences, some of which include:

• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm

• Assault a Police Office while resisting arrest

• Flight from a Police Officer in a vehicle

• Possession of stolen property over $5000

He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing at Airdrie Provincial Court on November 7, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. He will also appear in Calgary Provincial Court on November 6, 2019 to answer to numerous charges from their point.
The injured RCMP officer suffered non life threatening injuries and is home recovering.
