Red Deer, Alberta – Charges are pending against three youth after Red Deer RCMP responded to three incidents over the last week at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer.
On October 15 at approximately 10:45 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a fight in the parking lot of the Collicutt Centre. On arrival, police found one male youth with injuries. Police continue to investigate this incident, and a charge of aggravated assault is pending against one male youth.
On October 16, at approximately 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of youth with weapons in the parking lot of the Collicutt Centre. Police responded and determined no weapons were involved. A charge of uttering threats is pending against one male youth.
On October 21 at approximately 11:45 a.m. police responded to reports of a male with a weapon at the Collicutt Centre. The Collicutt Centre was placed in Lockdown and Hunting Hills High School and Notre Dame High School were placed in Hold and Secure as a safety precaution. Police located and arrested a male youth nearby. They later recovered a pellet gun. He is facing weapons related offences.
Red Deer RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as they continue to investigate these incidents. In the coming weeks, police and City of Red Deer and school officials will be meeting to examine and evaluate safety and security at city facilities and surrounding areas.
