UPDATE: Counterfeit Money Suspect May be Committing Crimes Around Alberta

Fort Saskatchewan Alberta – Throughout the day yesterday, members of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP pro-actively canvassed businesses in Fort Saskatchewan and the rural communities. Their goal was education and prevention in relation to the recent counterfeit crimes. These efforts resulted in police discovering additional unreported incidents. In total, the Fort Saskatchewan are now actively investigating 4 incidents of counterfeit American currency being used. In all cases, the suspect used large denomination American currency to purchase gift cards or pre-paid credit cards. Police also believe the suspect may be actively committing the same crimes in other communities around the province.

The RCMP are interested in identifying and speaking to a person of interest (see attached photos) who may be able to assist them in their investigations. Fort Saskatchewan RCMP – Seeking Additional Victims of Counterfeit Money Crimes

Fort Saskatchewan, AB. – The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP have received reports from various businesses around town regarding the use of counterfeit bills. The RCMP have determined that a male suspect has been purchasing gift cards and pre paid credit cards with large denomination counterfeit American Bills. Police are recommending that businesses refrain from accepting foreign currency as payment at this time. They would also like to encourage everyone to educate themselves on how to recognize counterfeit bills, as this is a great way to help prevent theses sorts of crimes.
