Redcliff RCMP on scene at serious collision on Highway 1- UPDATED

Redcliff, Alberta – (7:30 PM) The RCMP advise one eastbound lane is now open on Highway 1 and Range Road 101. All lanes are expected to be reopened in about one hour. The public is thanked for their patience.

No further information on the collision is available at this time. The cause of the collisions remains under investigation.

BACKGROUND

Redcliff, Alberta – (2:46 PM) The RCMP, along with emergency services are on scene at a two vehicle collision on Highway 1 and Range Road 101. Eastbound traffic is being diverted near Range Road 100 and will not be able to get through the collision area.

At 12:50 p.m. the RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a collision involving two semis. Both semis were travelling east bound when one appears to have collided with the rear of another. The drivers of both semis have been transported to hospitals; one via ground ambulance and one via HALO air ambulance. Injuries have not been determined. A passenger was treated and released on scene.

A collision analyst is en route to the scene. The traffic diversion is expected to be several hours while the RCMP conduct a scene examination.

An update will be provided when able.
