Child Pornography Charges Laid Against 26-Year-Old St. Albert Male

St. Albert, Alberta – Following a lengthy investigation by St. Albert RCMP, National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, a St. Albert man was arrested for child pornography offences.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, the suspect was arrested and a search warrant was conducted at a residence in the Braeside neighbourhood. The St. Albert RCMP General Duty unit and the St. Albert General Investigation section assisted with the search warrant.

Graeme McEachern, age 26, of St. Albert, Alta., has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography. He was released by a Justice of the Peace for a November 18, 2019 court date and has several release conditions including not to be in contact with anyone under the age of 16.

ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Team is addressing the growing demand for child pornography investigations culminating from the dramatic increase in this crime via the internet. The ultimate of this team is to identify and assist child victims of sexual abuse, identify those responsible for the abuse and to lay appropriate criminal charges for the assaults, creation of the images and their distribution.

“Crimes against children are serious and result in lifelong emotional scars.” says Inspector Pam Robinson, Inspector in charge of St. Albert RCMP. “The RCMP takes child pornography and sexual assaults very seriously. Child safety is a priority to the RCMP.”
