Pedestrian Collision on Highway 25 North of Lethbridge

Coaldale, Alberta – On November 18, 2019 at around 7:00 p.m. the Coaldale and Picture Butte RCMP along with the Coalhurst Fire Department responded to a pedestrian collision along Highway 25 near township road 92. A 43 year old man from Lethbridge was walking northbound on the highway when he was struck by a 22 year old man operating a half ton truck also travelling northbound.

The pedestrian was thrown into the east ditch and sustained injuries. He was transported to the Chinook Regional Hospital by ground ambulance with non life threatening injuries.

A Lethbridge based RCMP traffic reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist in the investigation. Highway 25 was blocked and had restricted access for about three hours then re-opened to regular traffic.

All possible factors are being considered in this matter. What is known is the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing on a dark stretch of the highway. The weather was clear and road conditions dry at the time. There is no indication of liquor consumption on behalf of the driver or the pedestrian.
