Man charged in connection with sexual assault in the community of Southwood: Calgary Police

Calgary, Alberta – The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in connection with what is believed to be a random sexual assault in the community of Southwood.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 15, 2019, a woman was walking through a parking lot near the south intersection of Southport Road SW and Southport Lane S.W.

A man the woman did not know pulled into the parking lot near her, got out of his vehicle and started following her. It is believed he then approached her from behind and touched her sexually without consent.

The man immediately ran back to his vehicle, an older-model grey Ford Escape SUV, and fled the scene.
