Winnipeg traffic stop results in seizure of a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and a can of bear spray

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On November 17, 2019, at approximately 12:25 p.m., members of the Guns & Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 500 block of Beverley Street and took a male passenger into custody for two outstanding arrest warrants.

At the same time, officers observed the stock of a firearm inside a bag within the vehicle. The male driver was placed under arrest, and a search of the bag resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and a can of bear spray.

Tyson Shane Donald Daniels, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)

– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x3)

He was also processed on the two outstanding arrest warrants and detained in custody.

A 45-year-old male of Winnipeg faces charges of:

– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
