Yellowknife RCMP investigating alleged assault with noxious substance

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – Yellowknife RCMP is investigating an assault with what appear to be bear spray at a downtown business.

At approximately 8:49 PM, on Friday, November 22, 2019, Yellowknife RCMP received a call for service from an alarm company after a downtown business’ alarm went off.

Members attended the business located in the area of 50 Street and 50 Avenue. On site, they found an employee in distress. RCMP could also detect the presence of a noxious substance inside the business.

The City of Yellowknife Fire Division were called to assist with decontamination.

Yellowknife RCMP started an investigation. NT RCMP Police Dog Services and the Forensic Identification Section were called to assist.

Nothing got stolen from the business and no one sustained injuries during this incident. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
