Nova Scotia RCMP responds to community concerns about human trafficking

Kings County, Nova Scotia – Kings District RCMP is aware of concerns in the community about activity that may be happening in the area, that may be connected to human trafficking.

The RCMP is aware of a post on social media that indicates older males may be seeking out teenage girls, and inviting them to parties. The post states that females are provided with drugs and alcohol and separated from the group.

The RCMP would like to ensure that the community is aware of the resources that are in place to assist anyone involved in human trafficking:

Nova Scotia RCMP has a Human Trafficking Support Line, 902-449-2525, which is monitored 24/7 by a police officer. Anyone who has concerns or would like to provide information to the police about suspected human trafficking should call the support line.

The RCMP can be contacted anywhere in Nova Scotia at 800-803-RCMP(7267).
Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.

There are additional resources available which can be accessed by contacting the Department of Community Services, Victim Services, Sexual Assault Crisis Centres, Trauma Counselling Services and a variety of shelters and support programs.

Parents, guardians and friends of possible victims: trust your instincts. If someone you care about is telling you things that don’t match what you are seeing, or if it just doesn’t make sense, that person may be a victim of human trafficking. It can happen to anyone and the “game” is difficult for victims to escape. They need you to advocate for them.
