Ponoka RCMP lay drug trafficking charges

Ponoka, Alberta – An investigation that spanned several months saw the Ponoka RCMP General Investigation Section, with assistance from Red Deer ALERT, lay drug trafficking charges against two adults.

From October through December, the Ponoka RCMP investigated street level drug activities within and around Ponoka. On Dec. 12, 2019 the RCMP arrested two adults and charges were laid.

John James St. Jean (50) is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Michelle Dawn Janzen (31) is charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The offence dates are Nov. 7, Dec. 3, and Dec. 12. She is also facing a charge of trafficking in property obtained by crime.

Both accused have been released from custody on a recognizance to attend court on Jan. 10, 2020 in Ponoka.
