Duncan, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) is continuing their investigation into the homicide death of one male and injuries to one female which began late on December 24th, 2019 in Duncan, BC.
On December 28, 2019, the female victim died in hospital. This is now being treated as a double homicide.
Early indications are this was a targeted attack and the investigative team are continuing to gather evidence and pursue several leads, including two male persons of interest.
Once again, police are urging anyone with information to come forward or call the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit information line at 250-380-6211. We are particularly interested in speaking with people who were in the area of Trunk Road and Duncan Street or Canada Avenue between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. on the night of December 24, 2019 including those who may have dash cam footage or other video surveillance.
The families of the victims request that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been called to assist the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP in investigating a Christmas Eve assault that resulted in a man’s death.
Just before 11 p.m. on December 24, 2019 North Cowichan Duncan RCMP frontline officers were called to a report of an assault in the area of Trunk Road and Canada Ave. When officers arrived they located a man and woman, both of whom were injured. They were transported to a local area hospital, unfortunately the man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead. The woman remains in hospital for treatment of her injuries.
VIIMCU has been notified and is now investigating. While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no on-going risk to the general public.
Investigators are seeking anyone who may have been a witness, or have dash-cam or other surveillance video from December 24, 2019 between 10 and 11 p.m. in the area of Trunk Road, Canada Avenue and Duncan Street, to contact the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.
