Kamloops RCMP investigate North Shore shooting

Kamloops, BC – On Monday December 30, 2019 at 5:19 a.m., Kamloops RCMP were called to a disturbance on the 300-block of Alexander Avenue. Through initial investigation, it was determined that incident was in fact a shooting event. A 24-year-old Kamloops man was located a short distance away suffering from gunshot wounds.

We are at the preliminary stages of this investigation. The residence and people involved are known to police and are associated to the local drug trade. As such, the shooting is believed to be targeted. However, any time criminals resort to using firearms in residential areas, it does pose a risk to the public at large. States S/Sgt Simon Pillay, Kamloops RCMP Plainclothes Commander.

RCMP are on scene and a police presence is expected in the area for the duration of the day. The victim was transported to a local medical facility and is being treated for his injuries.
