Lethbridge Police charge 38-year-old male in connection with stabbing

Lethbridge, Alberta – On December 30, 2019 at approximately 1:22 p.m. a male subject chased another male to the front lawn of City Hall and punched him several before stabbing him in the leg. Police attended and located the subject along the 400 block of Stafford Dr South. The male resisted arrest and assaulted the officers. A 12-inch knife was seized from his waistband. The arresting officer recognized the subject from an unrelated incident on December 29 where a group of people attended a liquor store along the 2000 block of 2 Ave N and assaulted and restrained the employee while stealing from the business.

The victims in both cases sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Garrett Shane Williams, 38, of Lethbridge, is charged with:

• Assault x 3

• Assault with a weapon

• Assault a Peace officer

• Carrying a concealed weapon

• Breaching probation x 3

• Theft under $5000.00

• Unlawful confinement

Williams is currently in LPS custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
