Calgary Police seek public assistance in southwest shooting

Calgary, Alberta – The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in relation to a shooting that occurred over the weekend in the southwest.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at approximately 3:10 a.m., police were called to the 0 – 100 block of Somerside Circle S.W., for reports of gunshots heard in the area.

While traveling to the scene, police discovered a white BMW car on the side of the overpass from Highway 22X eastbound, to McLeod Trail S.E. It is believed the car is related to the shooting. No occupants were inside the vehicle.

Upon police arrival at the residence, it was discovered that one gunshot struck a wall of the residence. Several individuals were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, however no injuries were reported. Police are looking to speak to anyone who was inside the residence at the time of the incident. Police are still looking for suspects and do not have anyone currently in custody.

It is believed this shooting is targeted and is not connected to the shooting that occurred in Penbrooke Meadows. It is not yet known if this incident is connected to other shootings that have occurred earlier this year.

As the investigation is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.

This marks the third shooting of 2020.
