UPDATE: Bomb threat at Lethbridge College believed to be a hoax

Lethbridge, Alberta – (3:54 pm) Lethbridge Police are investigating a reported bomb threat at Lethbridge College but there is no evidence to suggest the threat is credible.

Shortly before noon today police responded to a report that Lethbridge College had received an email to their general inquiries account which contained a bomb threat. College officials notified police immediately and officers were dispatched. Lethbridge College followed their emergency protocols and evacuated their campus and student residences as a precautionary measure.

Preliminary investigation has determined that the email does not appear to have come from any students or staff members and may have originated from overseas. Police have also liaised with law enforcement agencies in other jurisdictions where there have been numerous similar incidents that have been unfounded.

At this time there is no evidence to suggest the college community is at risk.

Investigation is ongoing.
