Grande Prairie RCMP traffic stop leads to seized drugs and recovered stolen property

Grande Prairie, Alberta – The Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit seized drugs and recovered stolen property, following a traffic stop earlier this week.

On Jan. 27, 2020, shortly after 9 p.m., members of the Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle after observing a stolen licence plate on it. The male driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was arrested without incident.

Further investigation led police to locate and seize 22 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately $1000 cash.

The following charges are pending against the male driver:

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The male is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 11, 2020.

The Grande Prairie RCMP is committed to community safety and will continue working towards reducing crime through pro-active enforcement such as this.
