Watson Lake, Yukon – On February 2, 2020, Watson Lake RCMP investigated a dangerous driving and assault complaint. During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect of the initial complaint was also believed to be selling crack cocaine in the community. Police subsequently applied for and were granted a search warrant for the suspect’s residence.
A contingent of the Yukon RCMP’s Critical Incident Program (CIP), which includes the Emergency Response Team (ERT), was deployed to Watson Lake. On February 4, 2020, Watson Lake RCMP and Yukon RCMP CIP executed the search warrant on the suspect’s residence.
Three individuals, including the suspect, were arrested without incident inside the residence and the following items were seized:
Quantities of suspected crack cocaine;
Quantities of suspected cannabis;
“This investigation speaks volumes of the efforts of our front line police officers to maintain public safety in our community. Our officers tirelessly investigated the illegal activities and violence that the suspect was allegedly involved in.” says A/District Commander Sgt. Rob Morin.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
