Two men charged following drug seizure during traffic stop near Berry Mills, N.B.

Berry Mills, New Brunswick – Two men from Moncton, N.B., are facing charges following a drug seizure at a traffic stop near Berry Mills, N.B.

On February 19, 2020, around 9 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit along with members of the Codiac Regional RCMP and the RCMP’s Police Dog Services conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Route 11, in connection with a drug investigation that began in January 2019.

During the search, police seized a large quantity of what is believed to be cocaine and two men were arrested. A 25-year old was held in custody and a 23-year-old man was released and is scheduled to appear in court in May 2020.

On February 20, Alain Simplice Bweso appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and was charged with one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on February 24, for a bail hearing.

Lincoln Antonio Bishop was also charged with one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on May 26 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
