“Suspects threatened him with a handgun, a machete and a small knife, before slashing and beating him”: Saskatoon Police Service

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – A 45 year old man was treated in hospital overnight following an assault and stabbing near 24th Street East and 3rd Avenue North.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., February 28, 2020, the man was walking in the area when he was approached by three people. The suspects threatened him with a handgun, a machete and a small knife, before slashing and beating him. The victim was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Moments after the assault officers located individuals inside a nearby convenience store matching the preliminary descriptions. Two were able to flee on foot, while another was taken into custody. A track by members of the Canine Unit did not result in arrests, however an imitation firearm was located.

One suspect is described as 5’8″ in height, approximately 30 years old, with thin black hair. He was wearing a black bandanna at the time of the incident.

The other is described as approximately 40 years old, with a muscular build, bald with facial stubble. He was wearing a bright green sweater and blue jeans.

Members of the General Investigation Section are continuing their investigation.
