Rocky Mountain House RCMP Crime Reduction Unit makes substantial seizures

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta – The pilot Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) in Rocky Mountain House has seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun as well as ammunition, other weapons and stolen property during a traffic stop on March 23, 2020.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m., the CRU team conducted a traffic stop when they observed a vehicle with a stolen license plate. Three occupants in the vehicle were arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed several weapons, drugs believed to be crystal methamphetamine, a large amount of stolen securities and stolen documents, bank records and Mastercard numbers.

Brianna Crookedlegs (20) is facing 21 criminal charges, Connor Heap (27) is facing 19 criminal charges and three charges under the Traffic Safety Act and Jennifer Kimberley McDougall (33) is facing 14 criminal charges.

The charges all are facing include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, identity theft, possess instruments used to copy credit card data, et al. Crookedlegs and Heap face several counts of fail to comply with a release order condition.

Following judicial interim release hearings, Connor Heap and Jennifer McDougall were released for court in Rocky Mountain House on June 17, 2020. Brianna Crookedlegs was remanded into custody and later released with a court date of June 17th, 2020.

“In this period of uncertainty, public safety remains an RCMP priority” says Staff Sergeant Carl Dinsdale, Detachment Commander of Rocky Mountain House RCMP. “While maintaining safe practices, our CRU will continue to focus on crime reduction and removing dangerous weapons from our streets.”
