Airdrie, Alberta – Airdrie RCMP detachment have received several inquiries from the public regarding travelling in vehicles with others during the Covid-19 pandemic. This specifically would affect some businesses who are designated as essential workplaces who still have employees working.
On March 31, the Office of the Justice and Solicitor General for Alberta reaffirmed their position through the direction provided by Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hinshaw.
Dr. Hinshaw stated, “If you are not under mandatory self-isolation, you will not be fined for travelling in your vehicle with your family or car pooling with coworkers. However, if you are feeling unwell, you must stay home.”
Residents who observe members of the public and/or businesses not following the public health measures put in place by Alberta Health are encouraged to file a complaint with Alberta Health.
Airdrie RCMP are reminding the public to please be mindful of social/physical distancing and stay home if you can.
