Camrose Police Service Report to April 2, 2020

Camrose, Alberta – April 2, 2020 – An 18 year old male who had previously been issued a trespass notice to convenience store returned to the business. When staff observed the male in their parking lot they quickly locked the exterior door. The male then produced a knife and was waving it around in a threatening manner while stating he was going to kill him. Police were dispatched and located the male nearby. The male who resisted his arrest was found to be in possession of the knife contrary to his conditions as well property recently stolen from another business. The male is in custody waiting on a bail hearing facing numerous charges including possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, mischief, possession of stolen property, resist arrest and breaching his conditions.

April 1, 2020

An employee reported that someone had broken into the downtown business where he works. At approximately 5:26 AM two subjects pried open the back door and once inside stole cash from the till and some merchandise. Police are investigating.

Police received a 911 call regarding a collision right in front of St. Mary’s hospital. There were no injuries in the collision which was determined to have been caused by someone leaving the hospital parking lot and colliding with another vehicle traveling on 53 street. The female driver responsible for the collision was issued the appropriate tickets including driving while suspsended.

A male responsible for a March 6th theft from a business was located, arrested and charged.

March 31, 2020

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after receiving a complaint that the female driver may be impaired. The driver displayed signs of drug impairment and she was arrested and transported to Police headquarters. The 29 year old failed a drug recognition examination and a sample of her blood was obtained and sent for analysis. The female’s drivers license was seized and impaired driving charges are pending the results from the blood sample.

A female contacted Police stating that she was assaulted by her husband. Police attended the residence and determined that a verbal argument had escalated to a shoving match between the couple. The male was arrested to prevent further breach of the peace.

On March 28, 2020 a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted in the late evening hours of March 26 while using the walking paths around Mirror lake. The 32 year old victim of the assault did suffer injuries but has been released from the hospital. Police have spoken with witnesses and are looking for anyone else who might have information about this crime. Police have yet to determine if this was a targeted attack as they continue the investigation. Police also want to remind citizens to take precautions at night in an attempt to avoid a similar incident from occurring.

March 30, 2020

Police received numerous complaints regarding a domestic disturbance at a residence on Mount Pleasant Drive. Upon arrival to the home Police observed a male standing on the balcony holding the door shut behind him preventing someone within from coming outside. Police entered the apartment and were confronted by an out of control female who was high on illicit drugs. The female was arrested to prevent further breach of the peace.

Police observed a vehicle with expired registration but when a traffic stop was attempted the vehicle failed to stop for Police. The vehicle was located later and towed. The registered owner is facing charges.

March 29, 2020

Police received a complaint of a female who had been sitting in her vehicle for several hours. The female was spoken to by Police and arrested under the mental health act. The 52 year old was later transported to the Centennial center.
