Inuvik RCMP charged two men following a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation

Inuvik, Northwest Territories – On Wednesday, April 1st, 2020, at approximately 1:54 am, Inuvik RCMP received a call for disturbance at a residence on Boot Lake Road, in Inuvik. When police officers arrived at the residence, they located two men in possession of Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.

Inuvik RCMP initiated a CDSA investigation and subsequently, seized Canadian currency, drug paraphernalia and an amount of crack cocaine. The two men were arrested and charged with various CDSA offences.

Adar Mahad Mohamed, 25-year-old from Saskatoon, SK, has been charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule I CDSA 5(2)

Possession Schedule III CDSA 4(1)

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 sec. 354(1)(a) CC

Three counts of Fail to comply sec. 145(5)(a) CC

Aaron Kay, 38-year-old from Inuvik, NT, has been charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule I CDSA 5(2)

Possession Schedule III CDSA 4(1)

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 sec. 354(1)(a) CC

Adar Mahad Mohamed remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Yellowknife on April 5th, 2020. Aaron Kay has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Inuvik on August 31st, 2020.
