Grande Prairie RCMP search warrant results in significant drug seizure

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested several people, and seized a significant quantity of drugs, following a lengthy investigation.

On April 3, members of the Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Beaverlodge RCMP, Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, B.C. RCMP., executed search warrants on 3 residences and 2 vehicles.

The searches followed a lengthy investigation, and resulted in the seizure of the following:

• approximately 1.2 kg of Cocaine

• approximately 6.8 kg of Crystal Methamphetamine

• approximately 914 g of Fentanyl

• approximately 1700 Fentanyl tablets

• approximately 635 Xanax bars

• approximately $20,000 in Canadian currency

Charges are pending against a 25 year old male and a 58 year old male, both from the Lower Mainland in B.C., as well two individuals from Fort St. John, B.C.

Charges are pending against a 25 year old male and a 58 year old male, both from the Lower Mainland in B.C., as well two individuals from Fort St. John, B.C.

Investigation has revealed the seized drugs were destined for northern B.C. and Alberta.

These recent searches were found to be related to previous searches conducted by RCMP on Jan. 8, 2019 and March 17, 2019. Both of those previous searches resulted in significant seizures of drugs, currency, and firearms.

Grande Prairie RCMP lay charges following Search Warrant

Grande Prairie, Alta – On March 17, 2019, Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Drug Section along with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, ALERT and Grande Prairie General Duty members, executed 2 Search warrants in the City of Grande Prairie and the Town of Wembley following a drug investigation. RCMP searched both residences and located approximately $615,000 worth of illegal drugs. Canadian currency and firearms were also located during the search. The following items were seized as a result of the investigation;

  • Approximately 4.2 kilograms of Cocaine
  • Approximately 250 grams of Fentanyl Powder
  • Approximately 270 Fentanyl tablets
  • Approximately 1950 Oxycodone tablets
  • Approximately 22.5 litres of GHB/Rohypnol
  • Approximately $4000 in Canadian Currency
  • 4 firearms

George Osbaldo GODOY- GUERRA (24) of Surrey, British Columbia is facing the following charges;

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x 4
  • Trafficking a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon/device
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm
  • Obstruction of a Peace Officer

Mr. GODOY-GUERRA remains in custody and scheduled to appear at Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 20, 2019.

Grande Prairie, Alta – On January 8, 2019, Grande Prairie RCMP executed a search warrant on an apartment on the west side of the city after receiving information from the public about a possible drug house. RCMP searched the apartment and located approximately $600,000 worth of illegal drugs. Canadian currency and firearms were also located during the search. The following items were seized as a result of the investigation;

  • Approximately 4 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine
  • Approximately 2.2 kilograms of Cocaine
  • Approximately 200 grams of heroine
  • Approximately 5500 Oxycodone tablets
  • Approximately 950 Fentanyl tablets
  • $93,880.00 in Canadian currency
  • 2 hand guns

The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
