The man now faces charges under the Federal Excise Act 2001, for possession of unstamped tobacco, and under the Provincial Revenue Administration Act for possession of contraband tobacco and under the Criminal Code of Canada for trafficking unstamped tobacco.
Police seized 450 cartons of contraband tobacco in total, which represents a minimum estimated loss of provincial revenue of $50,000 and a street value of $22,500.
The man was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date. The investigation is continuing.
