Camrose Police Service Report to April 9, 2020

Camrose, Alberta – April 9, 2020 – A female received a phone call that she had won $180,000 from Shoppers head office and all see needed to do is send $385 to collect her winnings. After she sent the money the scammer then requested another $6000. The female was in the process of sending the larger amount when her bank stopped the transfer. Police informed the 77 year old that she was involved in a scam.

April 8, 2020

Police were dispatched to the North Side trailer park regading a disturbance. An intoxicated female was arrested after she thew a chair through a window. The female was charged with mischief and later released on an undertaking with conditions.

Police attended to a residence on 51 avenue in the 5400 block after receiving a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Police conducted checks on the parked vehicle and determined that it had been stolen out of Vegreville. The driver was located in a nearby residence where he was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property and driving while suspended.

April 7, 2020

Police attended a west end business and charged a female with theft and possession of stolen property after she was apprehended by the loss prevention officer. She and a male partner were both issued trespass notices.

Police received a call from a female stating she was being assaulted and then the line disconnected. After determining where the call originated from Police attended to a local hotel where the female was now uncooperative stating that she made the phoen call simply to get a male to leave her room. Police were unable to locate the involved male.

April 6, 2020

Police responded to a collision near 53 street and 47 avenue where a vehicle left the roadway and collided into the deck of a residence. It was determined that the 84 year old male driver had a medical episode so he was immediately taken to St. Mary’s hospital.

Police located the male responsible for driving dangerously while fleeing from Police the day prior. The male who had also failed to stop for Police on March 30 was charged with driving while prohibited, dangerous driving, failing to stop for a Police officer and two counts of operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

April 5, 2020

While conducting patrols Police recognized a male with a suspended license who was operating a vehicle. Before Police even attempted to stop the vehicle it fled out of Camrose at a high rate of speed. The male driver will be charged accordingly.

Police were called multiple times to a residence regarding an unwanted male on the property. On the first two occurrences the male left without incident. When Police returned for the third time the male was arrested for public intoxication. The male was later released without charges.

April 4, 2020

Police were notified that a fence at a business had been damaged overnight which had been caused by a vehicle that had left the roadway. A vehicle was located nearby with damage consistent with hitting the fence. The owner was spoken to and admitted being responsible. The female was issued a violation ticket under the Traffic Safety Act.

The loss prevention officer at a west end business contacted Police after observing two males stealing merchandise. Police attended and one of the males resisted his arrest requiring which required force to apprehend the individual. During a search of the male a quantity of methamphetamine was located. The male was issued a trespass notice not to return to the store and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
