Search warrant results in liquor seizure; estimated street value of $5,760: Nunavut RCMP

Iqaluit, Nunavut – May 4th 2020, Iqaluit RCMP initiated an investigation into allegations of illegal sales of alcohol within the community. During the course of the investigation, Iqaluit RCMP with the assistance of General Investigative Section (GIS) and V Division Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit (FSOC) executed a search warrant at a residence in Apex, which resulted in a significant seizure of alcohol. Police seized 36, 60-ounce bottles, which has an estimated street value of $5,760.

55-year-old Ray Shipman of Iqaluit, NU is charged with keeping liquor for sale without lawful authority – Section 84(b) NLA and selling liquor without lawful authority – Section 84(c) NLA. His next scheduled court appearance is July 16, 2020 in Iqaluit.
