Senior punched in face, by another senior, while walking dog in Nanaimo park

Nanaimo, BC – The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating an unprovoked assault on a 74-year male. The incident occurred at approximately 7 am on Thursday May 14th, 2020, on a trail near Glen Oaks Drive and Timbercrest Way.

The victim told police he was walking his dog along the trail when he encountered a male who was also walking a dog. As the two passed each other, the victim mentioned to the other male that his dog should be on a leash. The suspect male took offense to this comment and proceeded to yell at the victim and then punched him in the face, cutting his lip. The two grappled for a short time then the suspect left, swearing and threatening the victim.

While the victim was tussling with the suspect, the suspect male told him that he was 72 years old. The suspect male is white, of medium height and build and had a white moustache. The victim does not recall what the suspect was wearing other than he was wearing green boots and was walking a small shaggy black dog.
