Innisfail RCMP arrest two people in a stolen vehicle while towing a second stolen vehicle with a stolen trailer

Innisfail, Alberta – On May 16, 2020 at 730 am Innisfail RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle stuck in the ditch on C and E trail. Innisfail RCMP integrated traffic unit and Innisfail RCMP detachment members responded to the complaint and located two males attempting to pull a trailer out of the ditch after they had jackknifed it. RCMP investigated and found one of the males was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants for his arrest stemming from investigations at, Sundre, Okotoks, Airdrie, Blackfalds and the Red Deer probation office.

Further investigation revealed the truck the men were driving, the trailer they were towing and the second truck that was secured to the trailer were all stolen. Both were arrested without incident. The stolen trucks were subsequently searched, a loaded sawed off shot gun, approx. 60g of methamphetamine (approx. $3600 street value), a knife and bear spray were seized.

Mitchell Lewis Engler (34 yrs) of Olds Alberta has been charged with:

• Possession of stolen property over $5000 x3

• Possession of stolen property under $5000

• Possession of a controlled substance x4

• Altering a VIN

• Possession of break in tools

• Unsafe storage of a firearm

• Possession of a firearm without a license

• Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

• Possession of a firearm in a vehicle

• Possession of a firearm obtained by crime

• Possession of a prohibited firearm without a license

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x3

• Fail to comply x8

Engler has been remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court May 25, 2020

Lester Martin (34yrs) of Lacombe Alberta has been charged with:

• Possession of stolen property over $5000 x3

• Possession of stolen property under $5000

• Possession of a controlled substance x4

• Possession of break in tools

• Possession of a firearm without a license

• Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

Martin has been remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on May 25, 2020
