Edmonton Police conclude investigation into fatal collision last month

Edmonton, Alberta – On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at approximately 11:10 a.m., EPS Major Collision investigators were called to the intersection of 118 Avenue and 50 Street on the report of a collision involving an ETS bus and a pedestrian.

It was reported that a 69-year-old woman was travelling northbound on 50 Street at 118 Avenue, in a marked crosswalk with a walking signal, when she was struck by an ETS bus turning left onto 118 Avenue from the northbound lanes of 50 Street. The woman was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the bus remained on scene and was cooperative with the police investigation. Neither speed or alcohol were factors in this collision.

The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) has since concluded their investigation into the incident. The male driver of the bus was issued a violation for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk under the Traffic Safety Act.
