Yukon Crime Reduction Unit Busy With More Drug Trafficking Arrests

Whitehorse, Yukon – On May 14, 2020, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested a total of 4 individuals for drug trafficking offences during two separate incidents.

At 7:30 pm Keith Bilau, 51, was arrested and found to be in possession of an amount of suspected crack cocaine. He was released on an undertaking to appear in court on July 22, 2020 for a charge of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Later in the evening, Esteban Samuel Engasser-Timpany (20), Jared Gattensby (19), and Keagan Hopkins-Phillips (20), were arrested for the following charges:

Trafficking Cocaine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Diazepam for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession under the Cannabis Act;

Possession for the Purpose of Distributing under the Cannabis Act; and

Possession for the Purpose of Selling under the Cannabis Act.

Subsequent to their arrest, police searched the vehicle they were in possession of and located the following items:

An amount of suspected crack cocaine;

An amount of suspected cocaine hydrochloride;

An amount of suspected cannabis marihuana;

An amount of suspected Diazepam;

Cell Phones;

A large sum of cash in Canadian currency.

Engasser-Timpany, Gattensby, and Hopkins-Phillips have been released on an undertaking to appear in court on July 22, 2020.

On May 17th, another 4 people were arrested for drug trafficking offences. Thomas Arnedt (29), Michelle Peter (32), Jolene Hager (30) and Jenette Blanchard (37) were arrested for trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The arrest occurred in the Whitehorse area, although police believe the drugs were destined for Mayo.

Subsequent to their arrest, police searched the vehicle they were in possession of and the following was seized:

An amount of suspected crack cocaine;

An amount of suspect heroin and fentanyl;

cell phones.

The four individuals have been held for court for the following charges:

Trafficking Cocaine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Trafficking Heroin under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Possession of Heroin for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

Trafficking Fentanyl under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and;

Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
