Brooks, Alberta – At approximately 11:50 pm on May 22nd, 2020, Brooks RCMP, Brooks Emergency Medical Services, and Brooks Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle collision on highway 1 near the 15th Ave W “on ramp” on the northern outskirts of Brooks.
First Responders located a lone male laying in the median with multiple injuries near a damaged vehicle.
The male, a 19 year old from Duchess Alberta, was transported to Brooks hospital by ground ambulance then to Calgary Foothills Hospital also by ground ambulance. He was later determined to have serious but non life threatening injuries.
The investigation to date has revealed that the male, who was driving a 2009 GMC pickup truck, failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway and rolled several times coming to rest in the centre median of the westbound and eastbound lanes.
No other persons or vehicles were involved in this occurrence.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision and RCMP continue to investigate.
No further information will be released by RCMP at this time.
