UPDATE: Behchoko RCMP asking for tips on whereabouts of Behchoko man on warrant: ARRESTED in Edmonton

Behchoko, Northwest Territories – Steven Theriault, who was under an arrest warrant by Behchoko RCMP, was arrested in Edmonton, in the evening of Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020, by the Edmonton Police Service.

The arrest warrant was issued by Behchoko RCMP to locate and arrest 44-year-old Theriault, who’s alleged to be the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal motor vehicle collision on April 22nd, 2020

The collision in the area of Behchoko, on Highway 3, claimed the life of a female passenger and injured two others. Drugs and alcohol may have contributed to the collision.

Behchoko RCMP have been working closely with Edmonton Police Service on Steven Theriault’s apprehension. He is currently in EPS custody and will be brought back to the Northwest Territories in the next few days to face numerous Criminal Code and GNWT Motor Vehicle Act charges in relation to the incident on April 22nd, 2020.

BACKGROUND

Behchoko, Northwest Territories – Behchoko RCMP is renewing its call for public assistance in locating 44-year-old Steven Theriault, from Behchoko.

Behchoko RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of Steven Theriault, after he left the scene of a fatal single motor vehicle collision on April 22nd, 2020. The collision claimed the life of a female passenger and injured two others. Drugs and alcohol may have contributed to the collision.

Theriault is believed to be the driver of the vehicle.

Behchoko RCMP believe he could be either in the Northwest Territories, or in Alberta, in the Greater Edmonton area or Northern Alberta.

Steven Theriault is described as a First Nation man, 5’8″ (177 cm), 230 lbs. (105 kg) with black hair and brown eyes.
