Fort Saskatchewan RCMP rural patrols lead to arrest of Grande Prairie male and seizure of drugs

Lamont, Alberta – On May 20, 2020 at 12:55 am, while conducting proactive patrols throughout the community, members of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP observed a vehicle tucked in a roadside turnabout. Further investigation revealed that the licence plate attached to the vehicle had been reported stolen from Slave Lake, Alberta.

As a result the male driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested without incident.

A search incidental to arrest was completed and the following items were seized: Over 30 grams of Cannabis, Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms), and a stun gun.

A 31 year old male from Grande Prairie was issued several violation tickets, including driving while suspended. He is also charged with the following offences:

• Possession of Stolen Property

• Possession of a Controlled Substance

• Fail to Comply with Release Order x2

• Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose

He was released from custody with conditions and is schedule to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on August 13, 2020.
