Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP responds to tips from public and arrests two individuals for impaired driving

Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador – A man and a woman were arrested by Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP following separate tips from the public of suspected impaired driving.

On May 19, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police received a report of a suspected impaired driver in Peterview. Officers patrolled the area and located the described vehicle. The driver, a 30-year-old Peterview man, was arrested for impaired driving, transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. He was released from custody and will attend court at a later date to face impaired driving charges.

On May 20, 2020, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police received a report of a suspected impaired driver in Grand Falls-Windsor. Officers patrolled the area, located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 68-year-old Bishops Falls woman, was arrested for impaired driving, transported to the detachment and refused to provide a breath sample. She was released from custody and will attend court at a later date to face a charge of refusing to provide a breath sample.

Both vehicles were seized and impounded and both drivers were issued driver’s licence suspensions.
