“Operating any conveyance while under the influence of alcohol is illegal, even if it’s on private property,” says Sgt. Marc Tremblay of the Bathurst RCMP. “A conveyance means a motor vehicle, a vessel, an aircraft or railway equipment – that includes a lawn tractor.”

Members of the public are encouraged to call 911 immediately if they see a suspected impaired driver. Providing a description of the driver, the vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel can help police locate the vehicle and take impaired drivers off the road.
