Sylvan Lake, Alberta – The Sylvan Lake RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify suspects who are believed to be involved in no less than six different incidents of vandalism throughout the town of Sylvan Lake.
On May 29 the RCMP received complaints that indicate that sometime between 2:45 a.m. – 4:00 a.m., three male suspects broke windows and damaged other property. The males either kicked, or threw rocks through windows. The spree of damage began at the Sylvan Lake Community Centre, then the Lighthouse Fellowship Church, the Dairy Queen, the strip mall on 50 Avenue, the Sylvan Lake Library, a parked truck, a restaurant on Lakeshore Drive, and on to other businesses. The total damage done is estimated to be in excess of $5,000.
Sylvan Lake RCMP are actively investigating, and have engaged the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section.
The suspects are described as:
– Male (late teens)
– All wearing ball caps
– 1 wearing a Zoo York hoodie, one wearing dark clothing, one wearing light clothing, one wearing blue jeans
– All slim
– smoking cigarettes
The males appear to have been on foot and there is no information about an associated vehicle.
“This senseless crime spree has affected businesses and citizens of our community during already difficult times. There is a significant cost associated to make crucial repairs” says Staff Sergeant Jeff McBeth of Sylvan Lake RCMP Detachment. “The RCMP are committed to reducing crime in our communities and we will work tirelessly on identifying and locating the culprits responsible for the significant careless damage.”
