Clarenville RCMP responds to submerged truck in Swift Current, one man is deceased

Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador – This morning, shortly after 9:00 a.m., Clarenville RCMP responded to the report of a submerged pickup truck in Swift Current.

Police arrived on scene and observed a portion of the rear-end of a Dodge truck that was upside down and submerged in a small body of water near Seaview Drive.

A number of resources, including a tow truck and operator, Swift Current Fire Department, Fewer’s Ambulance, Burin Peninsula RCMP and a RCMP Senior Collision Analyst, were called to assist at the scene and to upright and remove the pickup from the water.

The lone occupant, a 26-year-old man, was located deceased inside the cab of the pickup truck.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged and the investigation is continuing.
