One man arrested; firearms and cannabis seized following execution of search warrant

Fairisle, New Brunswick – A 41-year-old man from Fairisle, N.B., has been arrested following the execution of a search warrant in the community that resulted in firearms and cannabis being seized.

On May 22, 2020, around 8 p.m., members of the RCMP’s Northeast District Crime Reduction Unit along with members of the Tracadie RCMP detachment and the RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at a home on Route 455. The search was executed as part of an ongoing drug investigation that began in March 2020.

During the search, the RCMP seized two rifles that were stored in an unsafe manner, as well as 35 cannabis plants, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

A 41-year-old man was arrested near the residence while driving his vehicle. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Miramichi Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
