A number of witnesses to the incident provided police with information about the collision. Evidence gathered at the scene suggests speed and driving without due care and attention as contributing factors in this collision.

The man had a suspended driver’s licence and was unlawfully operating the ATV on the road. The ATV, which had no registration plates attached, was seized and impounded.

The ATV operator remains in hospital at this time. The investigation is continuing to determine if alcohol was a factor.

RCMP NL cautions ATV enthusiasts to drive with safety in mind and to follow the legislation of all-terrain vehicle use as outlined in the Motorized Snow Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles Act.
