Morinville RCMP arrest three suspects following armed car-jacking

Morinville, Alberta – Three suspects are in custody in Morinville following an armed robbery in St. Albert, Alta. This afternoon at 12:44 p.m., Morinville RCMP responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery on a roadway northwest of Morinville.

A rural property owner came across a vehicle stuck in a field. Upon making contact with this vehicle, a firearm, believed to be a sawed off shotgun, was pointed at the property owner and two other occupants of their truck. The three suspects stole the victim’s Chevrolet Silverado and fled west on Highway 651.

Morinville RCMP and neighbouring RCMP Detachments of Westlock, Barrhead, and Parkland all responded to assist. RCMP Police Dog Services and the RCMP helicopter were both deployed.

The stolen truck was located at a parking lot in St. Albert, and shortly thereafter, all three suspects; two males and one female, were taken into custody by St. Albert RCMP.

The occupants of the truck who were the victims of this robbery were not injured.

The three suspects remain in RCMP custody while the investigation continues. An update will be provided once charges are laid.
