Morinville, Alberta – Three subjects are facing a total of 45 criminal charges following an armed car jacking that occurred on June 16 near Morinville.
A truck was stolen at gunpoint, and suspects were arrested in St. Albert in a parking lot. Several different RCMP detachments responded to assist, including St. Albert which provided resources from three different units.
David Lawrence Desroches (32) and Kalob Joshua Kochanowsky (20) are facing 16 criminal charges each, while Sheyene Victoria Bruno (28) is facing 13 criminal charges. These charges include: pointing a firearm (x3), robbery with a firearm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and fail to comply with a release order condition (x3) et al. Kochanowsky is also charged with possession of Methamphetamine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Thanks to a St. Albert citizen who located the involved firearm that was discarded, the RCMP were able to recover the loaded shotgun used in this incident.
The truck that the three suspects were initially driving in the field was reported stolen in Leduc on June 15 and will be returned to its owner. The truck was towing a trailer with a tractor and riding mower. The tractor and mower was stolen and the investigation continues into whether the trailer was also stolen.
Judicial interim release hearings have been held and all three were remanded. A court date has been set for June 25, 2020 in Morinville at 9:30 a.m.
