Burin Peninsula RCMP investigates fatal ATV collision

Marystown, Newfoundland and Labrador – A 62-year-old man is deceased following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision on June 22, 2020, near Fortune.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle ATV collision in a remote area along an ATV trail between Fortune and Lamaline. The collision was discovered and reported by a passerby. Police, ambulance and ground search and rescue attended the scene. The driver of the ATV was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Police are unable to determine if the helmet found at the scene was worn during the time of the collision.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged and the investigation is continuing.
