Prolific property offender arrested by Priority Crimes Unit , K9 & Patrols: Lethbridge Police Service

Lethbridge, Alberta – On June 22, 2020 the LPS Priority Crimes Unit (PCU) was investigating the activities of 47yr old Peter Bissonette, a habitual and prolific property offender in Lethbridge. Bissonette has a long criminal history including but not limited to property crime offences and he had been charged and released numerous times recently.

PCU observed Bissonette enter a liquor store in 1200 block of 2A Avenue North despite conditions stemming from previous charges not to be at the commercial businesses in the area. PCU with the assistance of Patrols and K9 attempted to arrest Bissonette for breaching his conditions but he fled from Police. Patrol members and the K9 Unit apprehended Bissonette while he was actively in flight in the 400 block of 12B Street North. Stolen property from the store was subsequently recovered.

EMS was called to examine Bissonette and he was medically cleared for Police transport.

Bissonette was charged with breach of release conditions, resisting arrest, and theft under $5000. He is scheduled to appear before a Justice of the Peace for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
